Why Tween Parties Need A Glow Up

There comes a point in every parent's life when the traditional birthday party starts to lose its magic.
You know the one.
A village hall.
Pass the parcel.
Musical statues.
A party bag full of plastic bits that somehow end up scattered across your car before you've even made it home.
For years, it works brilliantly.
Then suddenly your child is nine, ten or eleven and things start to change.

They're not little anymore.
But they're definitely not teenagers.
And finding something that sits comfortably in that middle ground can feel surprisingly difficult.
Because while they might have outgrown princess crowns and running races, they haven't outgrown celebrating.
Far from it.
In fact, I'd argue that tween birthdays matter more than ever.
These are the years where friendships become incredibly important.
Confidence is growing.
Personalities are developing.
Children are starting to figure out who they are and what they enjoy.
And they want a party that reflects that.
That's exactly why we created Style Studio.
Instead of spending two hours trying to organise a room full of children into party games they secretly think they're too cool for, Style Studio gives them something meaningful to do together.
They create.
They personalise.
They chat.
They laugh.
And most importantly, they leave with something they've genuinely enjoyed making.
One of my favourite things about hosting tween parties is watching how quickly the atmosphere changes.
Children often arrive feeling slightly awkward.
Particularly if guests come from different friendship groups.
But put a journal, charm bracelet, backpack or creative project in front of them and conversations start naturally.
Nobody has to force the fun.
It just happens.
The activity becomes the icebreaker.
And before long they're sharing stickers, comparing designs and helping each other choose colours.
As parents, we often think entertainment has to be bigger, louder and more exciting.
But tweens are actually teaching us the opposite.
Sometimes they don't want to run around a hall.
Sometimes they want to sit together, create something beautiful and spend time with their friends.
And honestly?
I completely understand.
If somebody offered me a personalised journal and a table full of craft supplies, I'd be pretty happy too.
Style Studio was designed for children who want something a little different.
Something creative.
Something stylish.
Something that feels just grown-up enough.
Because birthdays don't stop being magical when children get older.
The magic simply changes shape.
And personally, I think that's worth celebrating.
